Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was founded on the principle of service to all mankind. Since its chartering on March 30, 1934, Beta Gamma Omega Chapter members have worked tirelessly in the Metro Lexington area and have never lost their commitment to service. The chapter has sponsored dynamic programs and awarded numerous scholarships, consistently working to improve the health, wealth, and well-being of this community and its citizens.
For more than 70 years, thousands of volunteer hours have been served and thousands of dollars have been donated to benefit many in Lexington. Benefactors have included the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Boys & Girls Club of America, Grace Coleman House, God’s Pantry, Hope Center, Jarrett’s Joy Cart, March of Dimes, MLK Memorial, Robert H. Williams Cultural Center, Salvation Army, United Negro College Fund, YMCA Black Achievers, and YWCA Spouse Abuse Center. As we begin to implement our 2006-2010 Extraordinary Service Program, we will continue to fulfill our mission and live up to our purpose by promoting service in the spirit of our founders.
